3.3 Optimizing the Use of Colormap (for Solaris)

The number of colors available can be unsufficient if more than one user runs Vnmr(J) at the same time, or if Netscape, Spinsight or other colorfull applications are open at the same time. This would cause Vnmr(J) to show spectra in grayscale or other strange color behaviours. To avoid this problem, it is advisable that, as soon as a new user is created in the system, the following options are configured:

Optimize color for applications:
in the CDE environment, right click the background to open the \fbox{Workspace Menu}. In this menu choose \fbox{Application Manager} $\rightarrow$ \fbox{Desktop Controls} $\rightarrow$ \fbox{Color Style Manager} $\rightarrow$ \fbox{Color} $\rightarrow$ \fbox{Number of Colors ...} $\rightarrow$ \fbox{More Colors for Applications} $\rightarrow$ \fbox{OK}
Minimize the colormap use by the CDE background:
in the CDE environment, right click the background to open the \fbox{Workspace Menu}. In this menu choose \fbox{Application Manager} $\rightarrow$ \fbox{Desktop Controls} $\rightarrow$ \fbox{Backdrop Style Manager}. Choose \fbox{Foreground} or \fbox{NoBackdrop} from the many style options given and tick \fbox{Use this backdrop for all workspaces}.

Do these procedures for all users.
