At least 2 things are required before you start using Vnmr(J):
- knowing basic ideas/commands to handle files in Unix
- knowing how Vnmr(J) uses files/directories while working
You better don't go on without reading the subsections of this section
(you can skip Section 0.3 if you have experience with Unix
).
Conventions
- We will use Vnmr(J) to refer to both, the classic VnmrTM and the new VnmrJTM
(the classic VnmrTM here includes VnmrJTM in the classic view, obtained
- When a comment referes to only one of them, its name will be stressed
- Vnmr(J) commands, arguments and parameters are written (type style) as commnads
- Directories and files are written as /my/directory
- Buttons are shown as
(sorry for
the button border, it's a netpbm problem)
- the $HOME variable represents the home directory of the user for witch it
is defined (e.g. /export/home/vnmr1 for the vnmr1 user).
