A bit about myself

I was born in 1971 in Madrid (Spain).

I did my studies on Chemistry (1989-1994) at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), where I had the chance to learn a bit about Quantum Chemistry. Not enough with that, I went to King's College London (KCL) to do my MSc. in Theoretical Chemistry. During 6 months, I was struggling with CASSCF electronic excited surfaces to understand the mechanism of a [2+2] photocycloadition reaction. This was my first contact with Prof. M.A. Robb and the GAUSSIAN package but not the last!

Returned to Madrid at the UAM, I went to the group of Prof. M. Yánez and O. Mó. There, I carried out ab initio calculations to study multiple aspects of Hydrogen Bonds and Proton Transfer Reactions for my PhD thesis (1995-1998). During these four years I could visit some more times the KCL, but also the group of Prof. R. J. Boyd in Halifax and the group of Prof. J. Manz in Berlin.

After a semester of teaching at the UAM as Associated Lecturer I got a position at FU-Berlin as Research Assistant, to make the german Habilitation (1999-2004). During one year (2005-2006) I was Guest Professor at the FU Berlin. Since 2007 I am Heisenberg Fellow. In July 2007 I accepted a permanent position at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena.
