Congress Organisation

1st Fabisch-Symposium (Berlin 2004): At the first Luzie Fabisch Symposium for Cancer Research and Molecular Cell Biology, which took place from October 7 to 9, 2004 in the Zuse Institute Berlin, we discussed the "Functional Organisation of the Nuclear Envelope in Health and Disease".

Of Receptors and Synapses (Berlin 2005): The meeting with focus on synaptic complexity and on cholinergic systems took place at the Institute of Computer Science of the Freie Universität Berlin (September 8 and 9, 2005) in honor of Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Hucho, who retired end of September 2005 from his active duties as a professor of the Freie Universität Berlin.

Past Research Projects

The neuronal SNARE complex The neuronal SNARE proteins syntaxin and SNAP-25 of the presynaptic plasmamembrane and synaptobrevin of the synaptic vesicle membrane form a stable complex, which is crucial for docking and fusion of synaptic vesicles at the plasma membrane.

Protein Kinase C and G-Proteins at the NE Around 1990, not much was known about signal transduction towards the cell nucleus. At that time, we studied the nuclear association of protein kinase C and of GTP-binding proteins, signal-transduction components known from the plasma membrane, which in some conditions were reported to be involved in signalling processes ending in the nucleus.
