SWS = weekly hours throughout the teaching period of a semester
Basic biochemistry
The lecture is designed for biotechnology students of the 2. Bildungsweg (2nd track for academic training). The students have a different background regarding their working experience obtained in different positions, mostly on the level of technical assistants in biosciences or medicine.
Biochemistry lab course, the protein part
This is the central lab course for teaching basic biochemistry before the intermediate examination (“Vordiplom”). I was responsible for a 3-week teaching unit on proteins.
Organized in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Ralf Erdmann, PD Dr. Matthias Ziegler and Dr. Hans-Peter Rottensteiner
My sections: biochemistry and cell biology of the endoplasmic reticulum and the cell nucleaus; biosynthesis of membranes; biosynthesis and export of proteins; membrane traffic; calcium signalling; structural and functional organisation of the cell nucleus; nucleocytoplasmic transport; cell cycle.
With this lecture, we successfully complemented teaching biochemistry at the Freie Universität with modern aspects of cell biology.
Introduction into neurochemistry
Organized in collaboration with Prof. Dr. F. Hucho
Introduction into neurochemistry
Participation as Tutor (student teaching assistant)
Mechanisms of metabolic regulation
Lab internships
Biochemistry students actively participated for 4 to 6 weeks in working on current research projects.
Neurochemistry and regulation
This course combined teaching molecular aspects of neurochemistry and mechanisms of cellular signal transduction.
Radiochemistry for biochemistry students, second part
The course provides an overview of the use of radioactivity in the biosciences. Students are trained to safely perform experiments involving radioactivity. It is one of three courses, which together enable graduates to act as radiosafety “officials” (“Strahlenschutzbeauftragte”).
