Research Interests 

Studies on the relationship between the subject Chemistry and a general education. Developing conceptual methods for chemistry education and conducting empirical research on teacher-learner relationships.

Studies on the relationship between the subject Chemistry and a general education:

  • Contours of a modern scientific general education in light of the curricular Delphi study in Chemistry
  • Educational experience and learner development in the subject Chemistry
  • Teaching Chemistry at primary schools, German Hauptschule and special schools as well as school with pupils that have (severe) learning difficulties
  • Chemistry-related education at primary school level

Focus on the teaching and learning environments in science subjects – especially Chemistry

  • Educational development of boys and girls in science subjects – especially Chemistry
  • Using scientific models and accessing the microscopic world in Chemistry

Conceptual work for chemistry education:

  • Development of curricular units for middle and high school Chemistry lessons and for use in science-orientated teaching at primary school level
  • Extracurricular learning opportunities for primary school children with a focus on chemistry
  • Internet-supported and multimedia learning environments for science subjects
