Review: "Dendronized Polymers: Synthesis, Characterization, Assembly at Interfaces, and Manipulation"
Angew. Chem. Int. Ed.
2000, 39, 864-883

Keywords Dendrimers, interfaces, nanostructures, polycondensations, scanning force microscopy

Abstract Dendritic decoration put to work. Depending on structure, size, and density of attachment, polymer chains with pendant dendrons can attain cylindrical shapes (see picture) in the bulk, in solution, or on adsorbed surfaces. On the way to control the persistence length of individual polymer chains, implementation of steric strain proves a powerful tool. First evidence for cylindrically shaped nanoobjects is provided.
