Abstract We are investigating the photophysics of a conjugated, red emitting molecule (RS-19) as a guest in a blue emitting laddertype poly(para-phenylene) matrix (mLPPP) by means of steady state and cross-correlation fluorescence spectroscopy. We observe a very efficient excitation energy transfer from mLPPP to RS-19. Through varying the concentration of the red emitter in the host, we demonstrate changes in quantum yields (QY), energy transfer efficiencies (ETE), and decay times of the photo-generated species. The observed internal color conversion can be exploited in white light emitting diodes.
