SATELLITE MEETINGS

Heterotrimeric G protein-coupled receptors: Actions on cell growth, apoptosis, and synaptic plasticity
in the brain and other systems.
August 16-18, 1999 - Poitiers, France

ATTENTION: THIS MEETING HAD TO BE CANCELLED

Meeting place: University of Poitiers

Organizers: James A. Waschek (Los Angeles, CA, USA), Jean-Marc Muller (Poitiers, France)

Format: Invited speakers; short oral communcations plus posters; maximally 60 participants

Travel connections from main meeting: Charter flight from Berlin to Poitiers (tentative), otherwise frequent regular flights from Berlin to Paris and connecting local flights from there.

Deadline for registration and abstracts: June 1, 1999

Program: Much of signaling relevant to cell growth, survival, and plasticity in the nervous and other systems is mediated by nonclassical pathways involving proteins in Ras/MAP kinase cascades. In some cases even fast neurotransmission and neuromodulation appear to involve Ras/MAP kinase pathways linked to cascades. Little has been done on the connection of these processes to neurological functions such as brain development and synaptic plasticity. This workshop will bring together neuroscientists beginning to work on these topics and several experts in the area of heterotrimeric G protein and MAP kinase signaling.

Speakers (partial list): R. Lefkowitz (Durham, NC, USA), C. Marshall (London, UK), P. Ingham (Sheffield, UK), P. Crespo (Granada, Spain), M. Greenberg, Boston, MA, USA), M. Kennedy (Pasadena, CA, USA), P.Gressens (Paris, France)
