Expanding the circle: Tucson '75 - Siena '99, a quarter century of research"

Meeting place: Certosa di Pantignano, Siena, Italy

Organizers: Laura Della Corte and Giampietro Sgaragli (Siena, Italy), Keith Tipton (Dublin, Ireland)

Format: Four invited plenary lectures; short oral communications (optional), posters (optional)

Travel connections to the main meeting: Daily regular flights from Firenze (1 hour from the Certosa) or Pisa (2 hours from the Certosa) to Berlin and other German airports

Deadline (provisional) for registration and abstracts: April 30, 1999

Financial support: Due to limited funds preference will be given to young scientists and to scientists from less advantaged countries.

Program: In 6 sessions the participants will be dealing with recent advances in understanding the actions of taurine including modulating cellular calcium levels, ion channels, osmolarity, membrane stability, oxidative stress responses and apoptosis, as well as release and reuptake mechanisms, and role in CNS development.
