Travel connections from main meeting: Flight from Berlin to Bratislava; a special bus connection for meeting participants will be provided by the organizers. Train from Berlin to Zilina (30 km from Martin) or Vrutky (3 km from Martin).
Registration fees: US$ 120 for ISN and ESN members, US150 for non-members, US$ 80 for students

Program: 1) Alzheimer disease: pathology, neurochemistry; the role of second messenger systems in the neurodegeneration; 2) Parkinson's disease: pathology, neurochemistry; 3) Brain tumors (glioma, astrocytoma, meningioma): pathology, neurochemistry; 4) Cell signalling involved in neuronal damage, apoptosis, and epileptogenesis; 5) Proteases involved in the pathobiology of neuronal injury; 6) New biophysical methods in CNS research: MRS, MRS imaging, EPR of the brain during ischemic and reperfusion injury; 7) Lipid second messengers and their interrelationships with other messengers and with gene expression; 8)The cascade of oxidative stress in neurodegenerative diseases and aging (NO, free radicals, reactive oxygen species, lipid peroxidation); 9) Factors modulating the response of the nervous system to ischemia and trauma.
